Who's gonna drive you home, tonight
So I wake up this morning. It's cold. Freezing cold. Like 18°. Cold. I go out to start the car, so I don't have to take Clayton into a freezing cold car. No problems. The car starts, I let it run. No biggie. Then I start to drive, and notice that my battery light is on, and that also the little light that lets you know your emergency brake is on even though the emergency brake is not on. So, I still don't think anything of it until I get to the first stop light I encounter on my trip after getting off the highway. It's red. I stop. I'm waiting for the light to turn green , waiting, waiting ... and then my car dies. Great. I'm headed to my mom and dads to drop off Clayton and they live about 5 minutes from where I am so I call my dad. He arrives, says he doesn't know if he has jumper cables ... no probelm, I have some. So he jumps the car. It starts. Battery light is still on. He looks around under the hood. The alternator belt (i think is what he said) is in shreads. Tells me to turn off everything electrical, including the heat (it's sill like 18 out) and we'll drive it to the place to get fixed .. it dies again on the way ... we divert and go to a differnt place (after 2 jumps starts) and there it sits. All of this is sucky for many, many reasons. One, it's the first of the month, which means it's time for rent. Which means I already have no extra money lying around. In fact, I had about $10 to make it to next week. I don't have a credit card I can put it on, so really, I'm pretty screwed.
