Scars are souvenirs you never lose, the past is never far

So, a few weeks ago when I wrote that e-mail to the "what if" guy, I wasn't expecting an answer, which was fine. I wrote the e-mail anyhow, thinking at least I would have tried, well imagine my surprize when he did write me back. I was ecstatic. Well happy at the very least, so I wrote back . . . and so now, I am dissappointed when, a week since he's actually read the second e-mail, he hasn't written back. Why am I sad? I wasn't expecting an answer from the first e-mail, so I shouldn't be sad that he didn't respond to the second one, should I?
