Hand To Hold On To

The meme rules: 1. put your music player on shuffle 2. press forward with each question 3. use the song title as the answer to the question - EVEN if it doesn't make any sense whatsoever - NO CHEATING! I used my "Sing along" playlist, which basically is the list of songs I know all of the words to and sing along with the most. It's my most played list. Very telling when I look at the songs, actually thinking about the words to them all.

WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS THINK OF YOU? All She Wants To Do is Dance – Don Henley

Hey now you're a rock star!

In honor of the death of Elvis ...

Are you an Elvis fan? Nope.
What's your favorite Elvis song? I don’t have one
Did you ever watch an Elvis movie? I’ve never seen one.
What is your favorite music genre? older music. Big Eagles fan, love CCR, the Beatles, Mellencamp, Bon Jovi, Van Halen ...
Is there any music that you really do not care for? Not a big R&B fan
Have you ever had a serious crush on a musician? Oh yes, Jon Bon Jovi is my one true love. Loved him forever and ever, and always will.

I also have a serious thing for Sammy Hagar.

Have you ever had a poster of a musician on your wall? This I know I had Jon in my locker, and I am ashamed to admit that I did have posters of New Kids on the Block on my walls.
Who's concert would you pay, if money were no issue, $1000 to see? I don’t know that there’s anyone that I haven’t seen that I would pay that much money for.
What's the best concert you've ever attended? So hard to decide. The Eagles were amazing. Their Hell Freezes over tour in the pouring down rain and freezing cold. Great concert though. U2 was awesome. Bon Jovi is always good. I saw Lionel Richie as part of an all-day music festival, and he was surprisingly really, really good. Melissa Etheridge, whom I’ve seen multiple times always puts on a great show, she’s playing for the “home” crowd though,
Is there an album that you've worn out overplay? I wore out at least 2 cassette tapes of Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet.
Is there a little bit of a secret rock star in you? I think there’s a little bit of rock star in us all.

There are places I remember all my life, though some have changed. Some forever, not for better, some have gone and some remain

Believe it or not there is life after high school.

Found this fun survey on Kristi's blog
Saw this little questionnaire you are supposed to fill out about your senior year of high school.
Fill this out about your SENIOR year of high school! The longer ago it was, the more fun the answers will be!!

By the way, the year was 1991 (a palindromic year, coincidently, my brother also graduated high school in a palindromic year – 2002)

1. Who was your best friend? My best friend was Anna
2.What sports did you play? I wasn’t (and still am not) the athletic type.
3. What kind of car did you drive? I didn’t have a car, didn’t even have a license. Sad, huh?
4. Friday night... where were you ? At Anna’s, or she was at my house.
5. Were you a party animal? No
6. Were you considered a flirt? No
7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? I was in Choir 3 of my 4 years of High School. Would have been in Choir my senior year too, except I didn’t want to take Physics, but needed to get my science requirement out of the way, which I could do by taking Zoology, which met at the same time as choir. And I was in Band in Jr. High. I played the oboe. I hated it.
8. Were you a nerd? Oh, yes.
9. Did you get suspended/expelled? My parents would have killed me.
10. Can you sing the fight song? I don’t think we had a fight song.
11. Who was your favorite teacher? Either Ms. Schlozman or Dr. Carlin. Both hard, hard teachers, but I learned so much from them, making them the best kind of teacher.
12. Where did you sit during lunch? At a table
13. What was your school's full name? Lincoln College Prepatory Academy
14. School mascot? Tiger
15. Did you go to prom? Yes, with a bunch of friends. Fun, fun, fun. I should have asked a certain guy to go with me, found out years later that not only would he have said yes if I asked him, but he wanted to go with me too. . . ah well, live and learn.
16. If you could go back and do it again, would you? High schoool in general or the Prom. High School, I wouldn't go back if you paide me, the prom? I'd ask the person I should have asked in the first place.
17. What do you remember most about graduation? I don’t remember anything really.
18. Where did you go senior skip day? I don’t think we had one.
20. Were you in any clubs? I was on the Substance Abuse Council, and Choir
21. Where did you go most often for lunch? We weren’t allowed to leave the school, so I went to the cafeteria.
22. Have you gained some weight since then? Yes
23 Who was your February-formal dance date? We didn’t have one of these.
24. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? I went to the little get together at the bar the night before the reunion, but didn’t want to spend the money to go to the actual reunion.
25. Who was your home room teacher? We didn’t have home room
26. Who will repost this after you? Anyone who wants it can have it
27. Who was your high school sweetheart? Didn’t have one. I did have quite the crush on non-prom guy. He and I would eventually kind of date ... many, many years later.
28. Do you still talk to people from high school? Very, very, very few
29. Did you win prom queen or king? No, but my brother was Prom King.

Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

Questions from Jenn

1. why are you anonymous? – I’m anonymous because I don’t have a LJ, and it wouldn’t let me sign up for one, and it wouldn’t let me do this any other way!

2. what is your favorite holiday? My favorite holiday is Christmas. I love the festivities, the baking, the cookies, the family, the friends, and yes, the presents. I love seeing that time of year through my sons eyes. This year should be especially fun as he’s four now

3. do you keep an online journal? why or why not? Yes, I do keep an online journal, I don’t update it as often as I would like, I really need to update it more, but I don’t think many people (if any!) read it anyway.

4. what's your favorite drink? I love coca-cola. Nothing makes me happier than an ice cold coke … especially the first one of the day, and especially with pizza. I’m also fond of Sunny Delight, original flavor.

5. what kind of car do you drive? I drive an old, very beat-up, very high mileage 1994 Toyota Paseo. It’s been a great car, and continues to be a decent car, but it has 223,000 miles on it, and it’s only 2 doors, which is a pain with getting a kiddo in and out of the back seat. But for now, it’s going to have to do. I try to be good to it so it will continue to be good to me.

There will come an answer, let it be

And now, the much awaited answers to your questions

“What do you do for a living? Did you go to school for it? Do you like it? Do you make "enough" money? Etc.....”

My title is Promotions Coordinator which says nothing. I work in the marketing department for a company that manufactures herbicides/pesticides. We also own a company in Pensacola that manufactures animal health products that we sell under two lines, one direct to the consumer and one through your vet. I work mostly on the consumer side of the herbicide (as opposed to the professionals), and on both vet lines. I do media buying, a bunch of copywriting (ads, press release, product descriptions for product guides), I also do some layout and design of promotional materials. Additionally, I do some photography. I took a bunch of the pictures for our newest corporate brochure, and recently took a branch photo that is now featured on the label of one of our new products. I have a degree in Communcation Arts with an emphasis in journalism, so I do have a lot of training on the writing side of my job, but a lot of the rest of it has been learned as I’ve gone. I LOVE the people that I work with. My department is just like a big family (well the whole company is, but especially the department), and I’ve been here for 9 years this August. The company is also an ESOP company and so that has great benefits that come along with it. Do I like my job? Most of the time. Lately I’m liking it more as I’ve taken on more responsibilities. I go through periods where I hate it. But it all evens out in the end, and I’m not sure I foresee going anywhere in the near future. My ESOP account is enough of an incentive to stay. We became an ESOP company in 1991 (before I started working here), and there are people here that have been here since the inception of the ESOP account who have close to $1million in their accounts. I don’t have that much, obviously, but I have a nice chunk of change in there, and the stock value continues to grow each year. Also, I have pretty good job security here, the company has been around for 60 years (in 2008), and for a smallish company we manage to do really well and are true leaders in the marketplace. I don’t make enough money … I mean I could always make more, but I do make a decent living.

More than ya ever wanted to know, huh?

I was asked, when am I going to show pictures of my new house – and the answer to that is, as soon as it’s in some sort of decent order to show pictures!

I was also asked what happened in my marriage to make us spilt. That’s a harder question. Things weren’t good. I was the only one working for at least a year and a half, and that just wasn’t cool. On top of that, he made me feel like I was not a good person because my job was so easy that “even a monkey could do it”, and “they’re just trying to get rid of you”. I’d hear these things on an almost daily basis. How worthless I was, despite the fact that if it wasn’t for me that we’d have no income. The name calling, and the yelling and screaming, combined with the fact that he just didn’t’ want to get a job just got to be too much. I couldn’t do it anymore.

Who do I want to win American Idol based on last night’s performances? I don’t really want either one of them to win. I called a Jordin win a long time ago, although I thought it’d be Jordin and Melinda in the finals …. And while Melinda is a much better singer than Jordin, she’s more marketable. That said, Blake may have a better shot if he doesn’t win .. which didn’t, of course, stop me from voting for him about a half dozen times last night. The boy is hot. Although I like him much better with blonde hair.

And finally. What is my deepest fear? My deepest fear is that I will be a horrible mother, and that C will grow up hating me or even resenting me based on things his father tells him about me. He still tells me what a horrible person I am, and that anyone that has known me for longer than 10 minutes knows what a hateful bitch I really am. So I’m fearful that he’s going to try to turn him against me. I’m also fearful that I’ll wind up alone.

The problems plain to see, too much technology. Machines to save our lives, machines dehumanize

A little technology meme, if you will. . .

Do you remember when you saw your first computer? When did you actually use one? What about having your own? Do you own a laptop? (PC or Mac?) Have you gone wireless at home yet?I was the proud owner of a vic 20 (predecessor to a commodore 64), also, I went to “computer camp”, in 1989. We used Apple II e’s. I currently have a Toshiba laptop, it's broken. I'm thinking about buying a gateway. Circuit City has a great deal on one this week.

2. When did you first go online and/or use email? Who did you email back then? How did the internet change your life? When did you discover blogging? What about your home internet connection - is it dial-up, DSL, cable?1991 when I first went to college we had inter-campus e-mail, and other e-mail and other bbs-ing capabilities and stuff like that. It was interesting and led me to come cool people.I started my blog last summer. Even though no one really reads it.

3. Do you remember your first VCR? What about a video camera (there were some bulky ones back in the 80s and 90s) and home videos?I remember the first VCR my parents bought. I don’t remember the year, but I was in 5th grade? I think.

4. When did you switch from VCR to DVD? How did it change your video viewing experience? Do you use TiVo or any such "contraption" to tape TV shows? Do you use Netflix or some other internet-based DVD "renting" service?Switched to DVD awhile ago. I have netflix, got a gift subscription for Christmas and I absolutely LOVE it. I have no TiVo. If I miss a show, I miss it.

5. What about music? Did you enjoy listening favorite music in Long Plays or did you prefer cassette tapes? When did you buy your fist CD player and switched to CDs? Did you abandon them (and turned to downloaded music) for MP3 players or Ipods or do you still buy CDs?I had a few LPs. I had John Cougar’s “American Fool” on LP along with Toto IV, and remember receiving Lionel Richie’s “Dancing on the Ceiling” for my birthday in 6th grade from Shelley Sarson. I also had many, many tapes (I don’t want to think about how many copies of “Slippery When Wet” I wore out. Oh, I also have distinct memories of listening to “Hotel California” on 8-track in my parents ugly brown pinto station wagon. I hardly ever buy CD’s anymore. Haven’t since a miserable ex-boyfriend stole about 200+ CD’s 5 or 6 years ago. I am the proud owner of an ipod now and I LOVE it.6

. Do you own and use a cell phone? Do you think it's useful or just annoying?(Did you always have a telephone in your house growing up? Did you have a phone in your own room?)I have a cell phone. In fact, I have no land-line, just my cell phone. Always had a phone in my house growing up. Didn’t always have a phone in my room, but I did, although not my own phone line.

7. When did you first buy a digital camera? What kind was it (3.2, 4.0, 5.0 mega-pixels or better)? Did you start taking more pictures or were you a photo aficionado before then? What about a digital video camera?I don’t remember my first digital camera, but I’m much more of a film gal. I have a non-digital Rebel. I also have a Kodak Digital camera I got for Christmas that I absolutely love. It's 6.3 mega-pixels, I think.

8. What about televisions? Have you already embraced the new technologies, such as HDTV, plasma, and flat screen? (On the other hand, you wouldn't remember black & white TVs, would you?)I do remember black and white TVs, but for now, I’m still watching TV on the same 19 inch plain old color TV I got for a High School graduation gift 15 years ago.

1. What is the one thing you can’t sleep without?
lots and lots of pillows

2. What do you collect?
snowmen, they come out shortly after thanksgiving and stay up until mid-february or so. Because, after all, they are not Christmas specific, rather winter.

3. Who is the one person you would like to see start a blog?
my friend Rainy

4. Other than windows, what other thing won't you do when it comes to housecleaning?
I hate cleaning the toilet. But since it’s either I clean them, or they don’t get clean …

5. Do you like cranberries? If so, how do you eat them?
I like cranberries in any way, shape, or form.

6. So tell us, if we looked in your refrigerator today, what would we find that was green?
nothing. I cleaned it out last night.

nothing

8. How much money is in your wallet right now?
$3 in $1 coins.

9. How much time do you spend at work goofing around on the computer?
A lot more than I should.

I’d donate him to the zoo

11. Have you ever you participated in a potato sack race?
No

12. Congratulations! You are the proud parent to triplets! What will you named your new brood?
All Girls: Abigail, Lauren, Kyra
All boys: Harrison, Lucas, Stover (kinda sounds like the name of a law firm now that I think about it)
And any combination of those names for other combinations of sexes.

Redbook, Rolling Stone, Everyday with Rachael Ray

14. If you were a mail carrier, what kind of weather would bother you the most?

So few people visit my blog, but if they have a blog, I do visit them.

22. HELP!!!You're stuck on a desert island, miles from anywhere. One morning an old fashioned steamer trunk washes up on the shore. Phew!!!Inside are 5 items & amazingly they are just the 5 items you would choose to be in a trunk if it was bobbing by! Quelle coincidence! So, there's a book, an iPod with 1 album on it, 1 flask of beverage, 1 meal and 1 luxury item. So, tell us, what would your 5 items be?
The ipod would have either Sgt. Pepper or the first Matchbox 20 alubm
The book would be Summer Sisters by Judy Blume – nice beachy/trashy reading. Nothing too deep. Wouldn’t want to have to think too much being deserted out there.
The beverage would be water – want to be practical, afterall.
The meal would be Tom’s Ramen Noodles. Which actually doesn’t exist anymore. But it is this great dish made with ramen noodles, a spicy pineapple sauce that has grape tomatoes and red onions in it. The luxury item would be a big fluffy pillow.

Don't it make you sad to know that life, is more than who you are

A coupld of quizes today because really, i have nothing. Good weekend. Not a lot got done, and the stupid Chiefs didn't even show up in Miami -- fortunatly we got some help from other potential wild-card teams, and there is still a slim possibility that we could win the AFC West -- San Diego and Denver sill have to play each other twice and we play each of them once yet -- plus the Raiders twice ....

anyhow ... enjoy.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.
